Photography is a language without words.

Photographers have told stories through the lens of a camera since 1826. They utilised their tools as a means to display the cosmic dance between light and Perception.

Through the lens of a camera, one becomes a conduit, capturing the fleeting whispers of life and freezing them into fragments of eternity. Each click of the shutter is a declaration of presence, an act of surrender to the beauty and chaos of the world. It is a dance of patience and intuition. The photographer becomes a creator and observer blending artistry and technical mastery.

Photography is a tapestry of emotions woven with delicate threads of light and shadow. It weaves tales of joy, sorrow, love, and longing, inviting the viewer to step into the captured moment and experience its essence. It celebrates the ordinary by elevating the mundane to the extraordinary.

Photography reveals hidden narratives in the unexplored corners of the world.

In the hands of a skilled photographer, the world becomes a stage for visual storytelling. Each photograph is a brushstroke of imagination, painted upon the canvas of reality. It invites us to see beyond the surface, witness the world through another’s eyes and perceive the profound in the insignificant. It is a portal to the past, a bridge to the future, and a sanctuary in the present. It transcends time and space, connects generations and cultures, and preserves memories. It is a testament to our desire to leave our mark on the world, to encapsulate the fleeting moments that define our existence.

Photography is an expression of the human spirit. It is a testament to our curiosity, longing to explore, and innate desire to connect with the world around us. It is a celebration of life itself, a visual journey that invites us to see, feel, and marvel at the extraordinary beauty that surrounds us every day.

A dynamic partnership.

In 2012 Ryan and I walked into a boardroom in Manchester Square, London. We had a presentation and a hope that the recipient would find favour with what we presented and opt to use us for their prestigious awards show.

Fast forward to 2023 and 10 shows under our belt with them. We could not be prouder to work with an organisation that is as creative and as professional as the World Photography Organisation.

The Sony World Photography Awards is World Photography Organisation’s principal programme. It is one of the world’s biggest and most prestigious photography competitions, celebrating the work of leading and emerging practitioners. Their exhibitions draw tens of thousands of visitors annually worldwide.

Made up of four competitions (Professional, Open, Student and Youth), all entries are free and the top prize is $25,000.

The Event.

The awards show is held in the glorious Ballroom of the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London, this year in April.

The competition was incredible and the artistry and storytelling on display were magnificent.

This year there was also some controversy surrounding AI. One of the category winners used AI to generate the winning image. This sparked fierce debate in the industry about what is art, what is photography, and where do we segment it for judgement.

Photographer Edgar Martins from Portugal was awarded Photographer of the Year for his series “Our War.” The series was born from his search for the truth about the death of his friend and photojournalist Anton Hammerl, who was killed in 2011 during the Libyan Civil War

Our team, led by Ryan O’Donnell, worked with the team from WPO for weeks before the event and again pulled off what was another spectacular showpiece. We ran a D&B line array, three 16ft x 9ft screens reflecting the light of three Panasonic 22k lumen 4k Projectors and a lighting rig that Bono would appreciate.

Massive thanks go out to Scott Gray and his team for demonstrating his trust in our service and abilities over all these many years. We will continue to support the creative industries in our own creative ways and look forward to what technology will usher into these fields in the years to come.

Creativity is intelligence having fun.
