Our MD\u2019s 40th was approaching fast and through the office, we heard the rumblings of a mini festival event brewing on the horizon. On a beautiful sunny Monday morning in July, amid the usual office banter, he came to drop the bomb.<\/p>\n

The announcement<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m throwing a party for my 40th…\u201d He begins. Everyone was paying attention. This is a party for the boss, and someone is going to have to take responsibility.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s going to be on the 16th of August…\u201d He carries on. That\u2019s OK, it\u2019s a quick turnaround \u2013 we\u2019ve done worse.
\n\u201cAnd it\u2019s going to run for 3 days.\u201d He gleefully finishes.<\/p>\n

Alright then.<\/p>\n

A week goes by and an email with an agenda pinged into our inboxes:<\/p>\n

Hi Team
\nSo, this is the plan\u2026
\nThe event this year will be small and invite-only and will be held over 2.5 days\/2 nights
\n16.08.19 \u2013 Outdoor Cinema and campfire – (18:00 till midnight)
\n17.08.19 \u2013 Axe Throwing, pool games\/swimming, darts, jacuzzi, all-day BBQ, BAND, DJ, camping – (10:00 till midnight)
\n18.08.19 \u2013 ACOUSTIC ACT, breakfast BBQ, – (10:00 till closing at midday)<\/h5>\n

The planning begins<\/h2>\n

The Kit list was drafted, the team selected, and we were off.<\/p>\n

The event took place over 3 days at Patrick\u2019s house and consisted of pretty much whatever he thought would be cool for this milestone celebration. It was a really great party and everyone that attended all agreed that it was one to remember. A brilliant event, an awesome team<\/h2>\n

As with many events we do, this one was not without its challenges. We had weather, power and logistical challenges. We had a short lead time, no idea of numbers in terms of guests. However, through all the party planning two things became crystal clear:
\n1) Our team was outstanding. Even though this wasn\u2019t for a client, the pressure was still on. It\u2019s a challenge to ensure that the boss of a technical production company is pleased with the technical production. The team not only embraced the challenge, but they also enjoyed the ride.
\n2) The Angry Beard mini festival is here to stay. We have no idea how this will develop but the format was a success and the event was very well received by everyone who attended.<\/p>\n
