About the Project

Perception were awarded the Principle Production role for the Audi Dealer Forum to be held at the NEC in Birmingham. Audi UK invited 700 of their dealers to the event where they would be talking about their brand plan and revealing 4 EOS (end of secrecy) cars to their dealers to raise excitement. The event took place in Hall 12 at the NEC and our brief was to split the hall into multiple areas, a welcoming corridor, a drinks reception area, an arena and a dinner area. All of these areas were to be finished to the highest standard inline with Audi’s brand identity.
It was a five and a half day build for an event that consisted of a 2 hour presentation. It was no ordinary presentation though, one of the UK’s leading Creative Directors, Jon Bentley, who choreographed the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, created a stunning visual representation of the future of Audi.
Registration commenced at 17:00 where all delegates signed NDA’s and handed in their camera’s and mobile phones. Perception had built a completely bespoke solution for this process to get 700 people through the door within 30 minutes. Once guests had registered they walked through the custom Audi Corridor and into the drinks reception area where they were provided with a welcome drink and then ushered into the main arena. The show commenced at 17:45 and was over after the spectacularly choreographed “car ballet” finale at 19:45, this is when the guests were able to take a sneak peek at the new, and traditional production cars before going into the immaculately designed dining area for a scrumptious meal.
We put up our 48m wide by 6m high single surface high gain screen and projected using 10 double stacked Christie HD18K projectors creating one of the UK’s largest Full HD screens. The lighting rig was designed around the 11m revolving stage and four 30m car camps that led the cars onto the main stage. For the audio we used a Funktion1, 5.1 surround sound system.
